Nope.  no button to wake up.  you will do so when your character feels like it or is interrupted by an external stimuli

I'm trying to build a roof but the game keeps telling me I can't build it there.  Does the room/structure have to be fully enclosed before roofing it over is possible?  I was trying to start from a corner so there were two walls adjacent to my target square.

Don't have the build number handy but it is about two weeks old now if that helps.

Does poison resistance or strong stomach help with the eating of rotten/tainted flesh?

Is throwing still viable? I'm thinking of making a character that exclusively throws things to kill.

Also, I'm wondering if stronger characters can throw heavier objects farther, and if any other stat modifies your throwing to be better (perception or dexterity?)

First this knife, then, the World!

My throwing (knife) is still more damaging and accurate than melee (rapier). It's probably about to be nerfed, though.

So... inb4?

What exactly does an item's butchering level do? Does it make butchering faster, increase drops from butchering, or both?
Nothing in this game makes me sadder than walking into some town and seeing a destroyed APC

drops only, afaik.

but the higher a wielded weapon's single-type damage is the faster smashing goes.

imho smashing > butchering the undead

drops only, afaik.

This is the first time I've heard it claimed that it ONLY affects drops.  I've heard from fairly authoritative sources that it affects time (and some say that's all it affects), but I've also heard from fairly good sources that it affects time and drops - that is, there are three things checked for each possible drop, and if you get a net positive number, you get the drop, and one of them was butchering tool.

I don't remember the specifics anymore, but it was something like 0-N three times, where N was (dex - 12), butchering quality, and (survival skill - 3), and add up the results of all three and if wasn't negative you get the drop, so if your dex was 12 or higher, your butchering tool wasn't one of REALLY bad ones (only a very few have a negative number), and your survival skill was at least three, you always get all the drops.  (Note that for CBMs, after it's determined that you get it, it then does a check to see WHAT you get, and "burned out bionic" is a big chunk of that list.)

My experience is that that formula seems to hold true, or at least, those conditions seem to hold true (the only time I don't get all the drops any more is right at the beginning of the game or when I'm freezing in the bottom of a lab and my dex is really low).

Only time is more correct.
Drops are affected by bad quality, but not good quality.

Hmm, I've looked through the code, and clearly, this stuff has changed since I last updated (I haven't updated my experimental in a few months now).  Looks like there's never 100% chance to get CBMs anymore?  The other stuff you get from butchering has different chances to get reduced at different levels of survival, the highest being sinew at 8(!) survival...

So yeah, ignore the stuff I said - it seems to be outdated.

If good quality ever affected drops, it was before I started contributing to the development. Which was quite a while before 0.C.

There were two non-ancient changes to drop rolls:
CBMs becoming non-guaranteed.
Drops being capped at some number instead of growing infinitely with skill (before that, a skilled butcher could extract more meat than the corpse had).

That second one has got to be pretty old - I've never gotten over certain fixed numbers from corpses, even when my survival skill was very high.
