Jesus, what happened?

Ankylosing spondylitis. Basically my spine will eventually fuse together, more or less. Surgery on my back was to help keep my lower back straight since having it curved when my spine fuses will be rather uncomfortable.

The sacroiliac joint is just one of the things that happens due to my condition. Got bad knees, constant stiff neck, collarbone aches... aches everywhere in general. Et cetera. Like if I crouch then stand up you can hear both knees creak. One good thing about the surgery is that I no longer get jolts of pain on my back if I move around in bed. Those were seriously nasty.

But yeah, 28 right now... the next decade or so should be... interesting.

I'm pretty much lost for words, other than saying:

"Wow, life really can kick you in the nuts sometimes."

I hope you have a long, comfortable life at the least.

At this point, pretty much used to it since I started feeling the ache during high school.

Surgery happened last year, and there was certainly some improvement on my lower back. My one regret is that I forgot to ask the surgeon or doctor if I could keep the bone they removed. Basically, to straighten my back, they cut off a piece of the curved spine and straighten my back while keeping it in place with the screws.

Like, come on, having a piece of your own bone would have been cool.

I usually wear parkas, brightly colored ones especially.

@Rot:
I often wear black (or dark) clothes 'cause "black goes with anything" and I prefer to spend time on more "productive" things than thinking about what to wear. I prefer function over fashion. XD

Fun fact: the hood of the jacket I'm wearing in that 'pic actually splits in 2 to form "fancy" shoulder-pads. Most people who see me switch it from 1 to the other are surprised by it. It's one of the examples of function and fashion working well together.

I'm a complete fashion freak, so it's hard for me to understand.
